Real Tests, Real Results
When we say Earthbound grounding products are built differently, we don’t expect you to just take our word for it — so we put them to the test.

Using professional instruments (a continuity meter, multimeter, and EMF reader), we compared the Earthbound Mattress Pad against a common knockoff brand and a best-selling grounding sheet.
Each product was evaluated for:
- Conductive continuity (does it actually conduct?)
- Grounding effectiveness (can it actually ground your body?)
- Surge protection and safety (is this safe to use with your home's ground wiring?)
- EMF exposure reduction (will this reduce harmful EMF radiation during sleep?)
- Performance through non-conductive layers (can the mattress pad ground through a fitted sheet without direct skin contact?)
The results speak for themselves — and may surprise anyone who’s assumed “all grounding products work the same.”
Scroll down to see the side-by-side data, real voltage readings, and video demonstrations that prove how Earthbound outperforms both knockoffs and conventional silver-thread sheets in durability, safety, and real grounding power.
Test # 1
Electrical Conductivity
In this test, we examined the conductivity of the grounding material on each of the three grounding products. The fitted sheets had a lattice of silver wiring woven throughout the sheet, and both the Earthbound and knockoff mattress pads used conductive carbon fiber.

Knockoff Grounding Pad
The multimeter was set to send a small voltage through the two probes, and the returning reading showed the amount of voltage that conducted across the material.
The knockoff mat showed 0.786V returned as a reading, demonstrating successful but resisted conductivity.

Earthbound Grounding Pad
With Earthbound, the multimeter read 0.929V, showing that the surface of the mat was significantly more conductive than the knockoff brand's material.

Grounding Sheet
We tested the best-selling grounding sheet, and the multimeter read 0.069V returned, indicating high resistance and low conductivity. This was expected as the silver fiber had cotton threads woven around its surface.

Important to note
We moved the probes around the fabric of the grounding sheet and found that there was no conductivity on any part of the sheet outside of the silver wiring. The majority of the grounding sheet's surface was not able to conduct an electrical charge.
Test # 2
Earthing Effectiveness
In this test, we examined the ability for each of these grounding products to lower body voltage - the exact mechanism involved in grounding the human body.

Knockoff Grounding Pad
Prior to touching the pad, the measured body voltage was close to 0.60V. This was our ambient body charge, which is always above 0 volts. Once contacting the plugged-in mat, the body voltage dropped to 0.2V showing a grounding effectiveness of 67%.

Grounding Sheet
We were surprised by the performance of the grounding sheets - the most expensive popular sheets on the market, in fact. The measured grounding effectiveness was 43%, which was not optimal.

Earthbound Grounding Pad
Repeating the same test with the Earthbound mat, we found 100% grounding effectiveness. Body voltage dropped to 0.00V, outperforming the other two products.
Test # 3
Surge Protection Safety
In this test, we examined the grounding cables for resistance, which would indicate the effectiveness of the surge protection circuit in the plug. Each brand claimed a 100Ω surge protection circuit was in the cable.

Grounding Sheet Cable
We tested the grounding sheet's cable and found that there was only 0.06Ω of resistance, indicating that there was either a complete lack of surge protection in the plug, or the presence a very weak resistor.

Knockoff Grounding Pad
The knockoff brand's cable had a resistance of 2.8Ω, indicating that there was either a weak resistor in the surge protection circuit, or a very thin wire inside the cable that itself carried some resistance. Given its low quality, we presume the latter option to be true.

Earthbound Grounding Pad
The Earthbound cable was tested and showed a full 100.7Ω resistance reading. This lines up perfectly to the claim that the cable contained a precise surge protection circuit of 100Ω, and the residual 0.7Ω resistance of the cable's wiring.
Test # 4
EMF Protection
Based on recent research, grounding has been shown to neutralize harmful EMF radiation from affecting the body. We tested the Earthbound Mattress Pad to see if this was effective in a real-life scenario.

EMF Meter
We used an EMF meter to quantitatively measure the impact of grounding on EMF radiation. We used a common Gallium-Nitride power amplifier as an EMF radiation source, which was detected by the meter to be in a hazardous range.

Results
We placed the EMF meter and the power amplifier onto the plugged-in grounding mat and within a few seconds, almost 100% of the harmful EMF radiation was neutralized. We repeated this multiple times, finding the same results. The Earthbound Mattress Pad was truly effective.
Test # 5
Grounding through a fitted sheet
The Earthbound Mattress Pad was designed to ground the body through a fitted sheet, rather than through direct contact with the grounding surface, such as required by a grounding sheet.

Mattress Setup
A fitted sheet was placed over the Earthbound Mattress Pad, and the pad was plugged in as directed. The sheet was pulled over the pad, hiding all exposed conductive material.

Mattress Setup cont'd.
The negative probe was pushed through the mat and the positive probe was held in the right hand, similar to the other tests.

Body Voltage (before)
The measured ungrounded body voltage was 0.60V, indicating proper setup and the test was ready for measurement.

Hand Placement
Even though bodyweight in a natural sleeping position would compress the fitted sheet and reduce the distance the body charge would have to travel for grounding, we used a light touch to contact the sheet for demonstration.

Grounding Results
The final result was a grounded body voltage of 0.08V, indicating significant grounding effectiveness. Direct contact with the grounding sheet resulted in a grounded body voltage of 0.34V, showing that the Earthbound Mattress Pad underneath a fitted sheet was nearly 4 times more effective than direct contact with a grounding sheet, making this test a success.
Summary
These tests were conducted in equal fashion, to provide the clearest side-by-side comparison of Earthbound's best-selling Grounding Mattress Pad versus a knockoff brand's product and the best-selling grounding sheet on the market.
The results are clear, Earthbound's Grounding Mattress pad is superior in quality and function, ensuring successful and sustained Grounding and EMF protection, night after night. Most importantly, this Pad can provide these benefits while placed underneath the fitted sheet of your choice, rather than forcing you to sleep on a scratchy surface like a Grounding Sheet does.
