Choosing Not to Stay Stuck
For most of my life, movement was just part of who I was. Even living with Crohn's disease since age 14, I adapted. But leading up to my knee surgery at 65, something shifted. The pain brought a quiet fear that this time, I wouldn't bounce back — that life was finally starting to shrink.
Recovery in your 60s is different. When you've lived with chronic inflammation for decades, you wonder if your body has ever truly been calm. There were moments I thought: Maybe this is just how life is now.
But I refuse to let my world narrow to a couch and a surrender. I stopped chasing who I used to be and started showing up for who I want to be. Through intentional movement, outdoor time, and Grounding, my confidence returned.
My body still carries limitations. But I'm not done living. A new year doesn't require a new body — just a new relationship with the one you have.
